ive been asking the same question for weeks... plz answer!
A sports club rewards teams based on overall points earned in a season. The data for points are shown in the table, where Low represents the fewest points scored and High represents the highest points scored by a single team member. Team Low High Range Mean Median IQR σ
Team D 149 205 56 174.2 168.5 28.75 17.7
Team E 185 292 107 228.3 214 57 33.5
Team F 128 149 21 139.6 139.5 7.25 4.7

Part A: If the club wants to award the team that has the most consistent scoring among its team members, which team should it choose and why? Justify your answer mathematically. (5 points)

Part B: If the club wants to award the team with the highest average score, which team should it choose and why? Justify your answer mathematically. (5 points)

Respuesta :

A)  The range, IQR and standard deviation would be used to measure consistency. The smaller the number the more consistent. Based on the Table Team F has the lowest number in all 3 of those so they would be most consistent.

B) The average is the Mean, the team with the highest mean is Team E

Answer: A) Team F

B) Team E

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: A sports club rewards teams based on overall points earned in a season.

A) To find  the most consistent scoring among its team members.

We know that the range, Interquartile range and standard deviation are used to measure consistency.

From the given table, the range, Interquartile range and standard deviation of Team F is lowest, thus the Team F is more consistent.

B) From the given table, it is clear that Team E has the  highest average score of 228.3.

Therefore, If the club wants to award the team with the highest average score, they will choose Team E.
