to solve this question, we have to use the formula of midpoint of a straight line

[tex]\begin{gathered} CE=CD+DE \\ CE=30 \\ CD=14 \\ DE=x \\ \end{gathered}[/tex][tex]\begin{gathered} ce=cd+de \\ 30=14+x \\ x=30-14 \\ x=16 \end{gathered}[/tex]from the calculations above, the value of DE is equals to 16
