Carol, Dan and Eli each had some coins.
Dan had twice as many coins as Eli.
Carol had twice as many coins as Dan.
Write down the ratio of the number of coins Carol had to the

and Carol had twice what Dan had ( C = 2 x D )

what I did is tried to replace the numbers with something easier , then symplyfying it .

for example , let's suppose Eli had 2 coins

this means Dan had 4 coins,

and Carol had 8 coins .

carol 8 : 2 Eli

then symplify it by dividing each side by two .

so carol has 4 and Eli has 1 .

That's how I got 4:1.
