The
answer is the placenta. This occurs beginning the fourth month of pregnancy.
In the first three months after release of the ovum and conception the empty follicle turns
into a corpus luteum. The corpus luteum
mainly produces progesterone and oestrogen. Progesterone is responsible for preparation
of the uterine wall for inception.
