Use the formula for the surface area of a right cone:

[tex]\sf A=\pi rs+\pi r^2[/tex]

Where 'r' is the radius and 's' is the slant height, plug in what we know(use 3.14 to approximate for pi):

[tex]\sf A=(3.14)(12)(15)+(3.14)(12)^2[/tex]

Multiply and simplify exponent:

[tex]\sf A=565.2+(3.14)(144)[/tex]

Multiply:

[tex]\sf A=565.2+452.16[/tex]

Add, round to the nearest whole number:

[tex]\boxed{\sf A\approx 1017~cm^2}[/tex]
