I think that there should be a balance between central government and local government. I think one area that balance works well is taxes. The shared power of taxation helps both governments finance programs and projects without taking from the other. I think that an area of imbalance is law enforcement. It is an area that has a lot of power that isn't consistently checked.
The question above is intended to assess your opinion on how the separation of powers works in the country. As an opinion is something personal, I can't write an answer for you, but I'll show you how to write it.
Use the information below to develop your answer.
- Separation of powers is what divides the entire political power of the country into three branches, which are called the legislative, judiciary, and executive.
- These three branches must have the same level of political power, promoting balance between them, although each has its own functions.
- The legislative branch has the role of creating laws.
- The executive branch has the role of ensuring that laws are enforced.
- The judiciary has the role of guaranteeing citizens' rights and promoting justice.
In this case, to answer this question, you must observe in which areas of society you can perceive a balance and an imbalance of these three powers.
As an example of balance, we can see that each state has its own division of powers. As an example of imbalance, we can see how state laws can be contradictory between states.
