Marta enjoys reading magazines on beauty, fashion, and style. However, lately she has begun to compare herself to the models in these publications. She worries that the women in her favorite magazines are prettier than she is. She is particularly concerned that they may be thinner than she is, even though her BMI indicates that she has a small frame for her height. Marta has decided to start a severe diet to lose weight quickly. What are the consequences of media on body image as described in the passage? Check all that apply.

Respuesta :

Media is a very powerful tool in influencing how people decide and behave.  It is necessary that models must be attractive; hence, their images undergo a tedious editing process before they are being published.  The enhanced and seemingly perfect image that media is trying to portray amongst models would definitely make viewers feel inferior about themselves.  And because this has a negative impact on society, a lot of teenagers--who are very conscious of their bodies--will strive hard to look like the models they idolize.  Perfect models who are truly nonexistent in all aspects of reality.
