it is responsible for processing pain temperature and touch.   somatosensory cortex is the part of cerebral cortex and is located at the middle of the brain. it receives message from the neurons located on human skin and processes it. each neuron conveys information to the specific part of somatosensory cortex. then that part figures out the meaning of the information i.e whether is too much or low temperature, touch or the pain. this part then processes the information for the body to respond.
