The psychoanalytical perspective
The psychoanalytical perspective developed by Sigmund Freud states that individuals go through five stages of development in which they confront conflicts between their biological drives and social expectations. These 5 stages are:
1) Oral stage (0-1 yr)
2) Anall stage (1-3 yrs)
3) Phallic stage (3-5 or 6 years)
4) Latency stage (age 5 or 6 to puberty)
5) Genital stage (puberty to adulthood)
