The Mayflower took a long 66 days from Plymouth in England to Cape Cod in the 13 colonies because it was trying to accompany another similar ship the mis-named Speedwell that kept leaking in spite of repairs and returning to English port several times so finally it was abandoned in England the Mayflower sailed alone to the 13 colonies.
