The Total amount should be $15.71
the answer  is  You bought 4 pairs of socks at $2.29 each and one cap at $5.98. 
With a sales tax of 4%, what was the total amount of the purchase? 
Cost of 4 pairs of socks including tax is $9.53. 
Cost of one cap including tax is $6.22. 
Hence the total amount of purchase is $15.75.
