The main reason due to which Lincoln did not get a position in President Zachary Taylor's administration was because he spoke against the Mexican-American war. Lincoln defeted his democratic opponent Peter catwright in the election of The House of Representatives but still he was not ofeered any position of importance by president Zachary. Lincoln had worked very hard for the whig candidate in the election of 1848 but he was denied a position in the administration. this made him go back to his profession as a lawyer in the state of Illinois.
