An artery is a blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart and delivers oxygen and vital nutrients to all the vital organs and peripheries in the body.
Thickening of the artery walls is dangerous because it can lead to constricted blood flow. Fatty material and cholesterol (plaque) that stick to the walls of the arteries lead to their thickening and constricted blood flow and this results in a lack of oxygen to the heart muscle.
