Usually, the man vs self creates the main plot of a story, because it is the primary obstacle that the character has to face. Other than that, it can be a secondary conflict, since it adds pressure and tension to the main conflicts that are happening.
The man vs self-conflict is interesting because it shows how complex a person is. Each person is flawed and unique in their own way, so that they will have to develop themselves in their own way too. Their growth is a work of progress. The man vs self-conflict creates uncertainty in the story.
The conflict within one’s own self is a very intriguing one. The readers will have some sort of anticipation, on what is the main character going to be.
