The slope of a line is 5, and you know it goes through the point (6, 2). Another point on the line goes through the y-coordinate -3. Find the missing x-coordinate:

slope(m) = 5
(6,2)...x = 6 and y = 2

2 = 5(6) + b
2 = 30 + b
2 - 30 = b
-28 = b
so the equation for this line is : y = 5x - 28

y = 5x - 28.......when y = -3
-3 = 5x - 28
-3 + 28 = 5x
25 = 5x
25/5 = x
