The French celebrate that day because it commemorates the Storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. It was a turning point of the French Revolution. Also, Fete de Federation was held on July 14,1790. It was a way to celebrate the constitutional monarchy in France.

On July 14, 1789, crowds attacked the Bastille. The French National Day is the commemoration of attacking of the Bastille which determined to be the turning point of the French Revolution, which observed the integration of the French people on 14 July 1790. This was a central exhibition at the commencement of the French Revolution. This was a plan to glorify the institution of a representative government in France.
