One of the most famous of all works of English Romanesque art is neither a book nor a religious subject but a tapestry.
This tapestry, named Bayeux Tapestry, dates back to the 11th century. It depicts the Battle of Hastings, where William, Duke of Normandy, defeated the English king, Harold of Wessex. The tapestry is 70 meters long and 50 centimeters tall.
