The rocks in this region leads to the formation of mountains above the surface of the earth because of the compression. This continental crust enlarges in depth as the mountains are formed above it. The crust is usually the thickest beneath the long mountain chains that are formed due to the sharing of a convergent plate boundary between two continental plate.
