Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants make their own food, by using energy from the sun, carbon dioxide and water to make simple sugars.
Photosynthesis occurs in organelles called chloroplasts and takes place in two stages the light independent stage and the light dependent stage.
The equation for the reaction is; 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2. From the equation we can see that the carbon from carbon dioxide is incorporated to make simple sugar during this process.
