the 4 quarter circles make up one circle with radius 5 ins
so are of pin wheel = area of square + area circle
= 25 + pi *5^2
= 25 + 25pi
We identify that we have quarter-circles and a square. We know that one side length is 5 inches, this would apply as the radius for each circle. Due to the fact that we have 4 quarter-circles they would equal one complete circle.

A (square) = a^2
A (square) = 5^2
A (square) = 25 in^2

Now we identify the area of the circles.

A (circle) = pi r^2
A (circle) = pi(5^2)
A (circle) = 25 pi in^2

We simply add them....

A = 25 pi + 25 in^2
