The first Continental Congress met from Sept 5-Oct 26, 1774. It comprised of 55 representatives from 12 territories. They declared The Declaration of Rights and Grievances a request to the king to revive freedoms and privileges they considered they automatically regarded as British captions.
The Congress had three intentions: to form a declaration of colonial powers, to recognize British parliaments demolition of those rights, and to implement a strategy that would persuade England to reestablish those rights.
The affiliates accepted to blacklist British gains and succeeded resolutions supporting colonial rights. They also favored conference over in May 1775, if the British did not renew their plans.
In revenge, the King and Lord North of England determined to punish and undermine the colonies. They obstructed colony entrance to the North Atlantic netting range.
