the answer is scanning

The answer is scanning.

Scanning is a reading skill that consists of reading a text quickly in order to locate a particular topic or information. To do effective skinning, first, we have to state the specific information we are looking for and have an idea of the words, numbers or "clues" that might be in that specific information.

For example, let's suppose I am reading a history book of Latin American countries. More specifically, I am reading a chapter that talks about the heroes who led "The Venezuelan War of Independence", and I want to know specific information about the date the Venezuelan liberator "Simon Bolívar" died. In order to find this specific information, the best option is to scan, mainly looking for numbers, since the date he died must be expressed in numbers.
