Why does erosion and deposition work together?? Why can't one work without the other?

Erosion wears down the rocks on the Earth's surface!!!!! Deposition occurs when sediment is laid down in new locations. When erosion wears down a rock (Due to weathering also) it has to go somewhere...and that's when deposition comes into play.
