At last Robert and I got to the top with the mules and their burdens. I was utterly exhausted. I took a buffalo robe from the packs and wrapped myself in it, and lay down by the side of the road on top of the mountain and went to sleep.

The best answer here is C. Relieved beacuase the first words "At last" indicate that the narrator is happy or relieved to have finally reached his/her destination.
