Do you think that certain literature should be taught and/or anthologized because it is written by a woman or underrepresented ethnic group, even if it is at the expense of a "more inspiring" author? Do you think you would feel the same way if you were a different sex or color? Answer in complete sentences.

I think yes because many people are not as knowledgeable of gender or race issue as they should be. In fact, this is true for my English class where we're reading a combination of famous literature and literature by well-known African American female authors. I believe I would feel the same way if I was of a racial minority

It shouldn't really matter what race or gender the person who wrote the book is, unless they have a perspective that we don't because of it. An inspiring author can be anyone. Maybe one person will really be inspired by the author, while other's aren't. We are all different, so I think a mix of all the different kinds of literatures should be taught and read.
