A point moves in a straight line so that its distance at time t from a fixed point of the line is 8t - 3t^2.What is the total distance covered by the point between t= 1 and t = 2?

Given that the distance from a given point of the line at time, t is

[tex]8t-3t^2[/tex]

At t=1,

[tex]8t-3t^2=8-3=5[/tex]

Therefore at time t =1 , the distance travelled is 5

At t=2

[tex]8t-3t^2=16-12=4[/tex]

Now the distance covered by the point between t=1 and t=2 is

[tex]\mleft|4-5\mright|=1[/tex]
