Can you help me out I just need you to do it and explain it but In a 1st grade way , a easy way, it’s for my lil brother please help

1st pan of bread = cut in halves = 1/2 ( 2 halves)
2nd pan of bread = cut in fourths = 1/4 ( 4 fourths)
To calculate how many did he cut, add both fractions:
[tex]\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{4}[/tex]Multiply the first fraction by 2/2, in order to have equal denominators:
[tex]\frac{2}{2}\cdot\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{4}[/tex][tex]\frac{2}{4}+\frac{1}{4}[/tex]Add the top numbers ( numerator ) and keep the same denominator:
[tex]\frac{(2+1)}{4}=\frac{3}{4}[/tex]3/4 pieces in all
To find which pieces are larger, simply divide:
1/2 = 0.5
1/4= 0.25
The halves are larger
