Mixed fractions are expressed in this form;
[tex]a\text{ }\frac{b}{c}[/tex]where a, b and c are integers.
To divide and multiply mixed, fractions I am going to be making use of any ywo mixed fractions;
[tex]U\sin g\text{ 1}\frac{1}{2}\text{ and 3}\frac{1}{4}[/tex]First, let us multiply them. To do that we need to first convert the mixed fractons to imroper fractions as shown;
[tex]\begin{gathered} 1\frac{1}{2}=\frac{3}{2} \\ 3\frac{1}{4}=\frac{13}{4} \\ \end{gathered}[/tex]Now multiply;
[tex]\begin{gathered} =\frac{3}{2}\times\frac{13}{4} \\ =\frac{39}{8} \\ =\text{ 4}\frac{7}{8} \end{gathered}[/tex]Now to divide;
(3/2)/(13/4)
= 3/2 * 4/13
Note that when you divide you will have to multiply back but by the reciprocal of 13/4 to have;
= 3/2 * 4/13
= (3*4)/(2*13)
= 12/26
= 6/13
