First Question: If I had a bag of marbles and there are 8 blue, 10 Green, 7 yellow, and 6 red. What is the (P) of selecting a yellow and red? The answer is given by my teacher. She said 13/31My other question is. How did she get the denominator of 31 out of this particular problem?

Respuesta :

Firstly, in the question, the number of marbles is given as,

Blue -8

Green-10

Yellow-7

Red-6

They ask the probability of selecting ared or yellow marble.

Now, The total number of marble(Red+yellow) which will be drawn from the bag is as follows:

Red+yellow=6+7

Red+yellow=13

The total number of the marbles in the bag is as follows:

Total marbles=Blue+Green+Yellow+Red

Tptal marbles=8+10+7+6

Total marbles=31

Now, probability of selecting one marble from the bag that to be belong the red or yellow categories as follows:

[tex]\begin{gathered} P=\frac{(\operatorname{Re}d+Yellow)C1}{(\text{Total marbles)C1}} \\ P=\frac{13C1}{31C1} \\ P=\frac{13}{31} \end{gathered}[/tex][tex]Thus,\text{ the probability of selecting red or yellow from the bag is }\frac{13}{31}\text{.}[/tex]

Now, the second part of your question is also covered by me in the upper part of problem.
