We have
[tex]3(x+1)=2(x+1)[/tex]
So we are going to multiply and simplify
[tex]\begin{gathered} 3(x+1)=2(x+1) \\ 3x+3=2x+2 \\ 3x+3-3=2x+2-3 \\ 3x+0=2x-1 \\ 3x-2x=2x-1-2x \\ x=0-1=-1 \end{gathered}[/tex]
