To find the equation of the line we need the slope and the y-intercept

The slope is given by:

[tex]m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

Using the points given we have tha the slope is:

[tex]\begin{gathered} m=\frac{-3-1}{0-(-5)} \\ m=\frac{-4}{5} \\ m=-\frac{4}{5} \end{gathered}[/tex]

The y-intercept is the value of y when x=0; fron the graph we have that b=-3.

Once we have the slope and y-intercept we plug them into the equation; hence the equation we are looking for is:

[tex]y=-\frac{4}{5}x-3[/tex]
