Three reasons why the Mongols angered the Chinese were:

  • They excluded Chinese people from higher positions in government.
  • They imposed Mongol culture.
  • The Chinese still harbored feelings of hatred from the millions killed by the Mongols.

Why did the Chinese hate the Mongols?

The Mongols took over China and established the Yuan Dynasty and the manner they did so led to the deaths of millions of Chinese people. The Chinese never forgot that and looked forward to revenge.

To make matters worse, the Mongols looked down on the Chinese and so excluded them from major posts in Chinese government which meant that the Chinese were unable to rule themselves. The Mongols also tried to impose their culture on the Chinese.
