A positive air-pressure respirator is a form of respiratory protection device in which, when in use and when being worn appropriately, positive air pressure is maintained within the facepiece. When the air pressure inside the facepiece is higher than the surrounding atmosphere, which is where the mask is located, it is said to have positive air pressure. A pressure-demand respirator, which feeds air to the facepiece in response to a drop in pressure brought on by breathing or a breach in the facepiece, is the most popular type of positive air-pressure respirator. In comparison to other types of respirators, positive-pressure respirators offer a higher level of protection since they stop particles from entering the facepiece due to negative airflow.
