Follow these simple steps to use a defibrillator:
- Step 1: Turn on the defibrillator by pressing the green button and following the on-screen instructions.
- Step 2: Peel off the sticky pads and place one on each side of the patient's chest, as shown in the defibrillator image.
- Step 3: Once the pads are in place, stop CPR and avoid touching the patient. The patient's heart rhythm will then be checked by the defibrillator.
- Step 4: The defibrillator will determine whether or not a shock is required and, if so, will instruct you to press the shock button. Without prompting, an automatic defibrillator will shock the patient. While the patient is being shocked, do not touch them.
- Step 5: The defibrillator will notify you when the shock has been delivered and whether or not CPR should be continued.
- Step 6: Continue compressions until the patient shows signs of life or the defibrillator instructs you to stop so it can re-evaluate the heartbeat.
