A kidneys consist of billions of tiny filtering tubes called nephrons, and they also consist of the renal corpuscle, Loop of Henle, and Juxtaglomerular apparatus. The renal corpuscle is the site where the filtration of blood plasma occurs, the Loop of Henle recovers sodium chloride and water from urine, and the Juxtaglomerular apparatus regulates the blood pressure through the kidney and absorb salt from the filtered fluid.
Therefore, nephrons work in a two-step process. In the first step, the glomerulus filters our blood, and In the second step, the tubule returns needed substances to your blood and removes wastes. Hence, all the kidney's primary functions, i.e., blood filtration, are processed inside the nephron, which is called the kidney's functional unit.
