Immunoglobulin is the antibody that a baby receives from its mother’s colostrum (first milk). The first breast milk has a high level of these antibodies, especially IgA.
These antibodies help in fighting off a large number of diseases and infections such as eczema, and can provide protection against allergies as well. This is mostly beneficial in cases where the babies have a history of family diseases.
Besides this, the IgG class of antibody present in colostrum, helps fight the pathogens present in the bloodstream as well as other parts of the body. Thus it provides passive immunity to both human and animal babies.
