To boost teamwork and help companies become more well organised, researcher Bruce Wayne Tuckman published a book called "Tuckman's Stages" in 1965 in which he covered four stages of development that all teams go through over time. These were forming, storming, norming and performing. During the storming phase, team members openly share ideas and use this as an opportunity to differentiate themselves and gain acceptance from their peers. The team leader assists the team in this phase by managing competition among team members, facilitating communication, and making plans to keep the project on track.
