Depending on how close you are to the equator, the regions may have a warmer or colder climate.
It affects it in multiple ways; its position in accordance to the equator, the land masses surrounding the area, if in lives close to a lake pond or ocean. These all contribute to how cold, humid, or hot the climate will be
