1. Check that you are in a safe area, if not you must move the child.
2. check for responsiveness
3. Check pulse and breathing for 5-10 seconds (NO MORE THAN 10)
4. initiate emergency response- call 911 and get the AED
5. Begin chest compressions at a 100-120 BPM rate.
6. Maintain a balance of 30 chest compressions to 2 breath ratio
7. After 3 sets of 30 compressions and 6 breaths use the AED.
Since she is young child, 8 or younger, one pad goes to the middle of the chest and the other goes on the same area, but on her back.
8. Inform EMS of what you have done so far.

In the case of the 8 year old girl, the correct procedure to perform CPR and use an AED is as follows:
- check for pulse
- open the airways
- perform chest compressions and deliver rescue breaths
- repeat CPR procedure
For the use of an AED;
- Attach the AED electrode pads; one on the chest and one on the back
- Analyze the heart rhythm
- Press the "shock" button, if advised.
