To distribute:
You multiply the number outside of the parentheses to each of the numbers inside of the parentheses:
[tex]\frac{1}{3}x-4\frac{1}{3}[/tex]
Now you can simplify:
[tex]\frac{x}{3}-\frac{3}{4}[/tex]
And that's your final answer.

Just multiply 3 and x and it will be 3x
The multiply 3 and - 4 and it will be -12
So the answer will be 3x-12
