one of the services offered by Gerry's barber shop is hair blackening. jack waited for 2 customers to finish for 1 5/6 hours before his turn. it took 1 13 hours to blacken his hair. how much time did jack spend at the barber shop?

What we need to do is add 1 5/6 and 1 1/3.
1 5/6 = 11/6
1 1/3= 4/3
Find the lowest common denominator (6)
Multiply 4/3 by 2/2= 8/6
Add 11/6 +8/6= 19/6
Simplify: 3 1/6 hours.
