Please help why do you think he author, Laurie Halse Anderson, choose to write this book from first person point of view?

Well, there can be many ways why he wrote that in first person.
But the answer most commonly used would be "He wrote that in first person because he wants to show himself, his feeling, showing what he would do if he was in that situation."
