According to the book "Antony and Cleopatra" by Shakespeare, he narrates the story of Antony and Cleopatra and how she seduced Antony to secure her political power and continue her legacy as an Egyptian in a foreign country.

Mark Antony was enthralled by Cleopatra and her beauty so he decided to let go of his wife and get Cleopatra into his home as wife. This decision did not sit well with the Roman people because he had married a foreigner.

Cleopatra made sure that Antony attacked Rome in the Battle of Actium which resulted in defeat for them which helped to consolidate Octavius' power.
