width = n

length = 4.5n

now lets input the information we know:

4.5n x n = 36

simplify:

4.5n^2 = 36

divide both sides by 4.5:

n^2 = 8

n = square root of 8

therefore, the width is 2.83 (to 2dp) and length is 12.73 (to 2dp)
