I always found second setting that second equation up was hardest. How do I know which one comes first? You just keep them in the same order as the first math equation.
So let’s solve for x in terms of y:
x - y = 25
x = 25 + y
Then substitute that into your first equation:
x + y = 147
(25 + y) + y = 147
2y = 122
y = 61
x = 25 + y = 25 + 61 = 86
