Night Flight

Beneath a skin of neon light,
the city stretches toward the night.
Each street pulses with sights and sound,
diminished here above the ground.

The city prowls a restless pace,
but from my perch up here in space
so high above the city's gleam,
a peaceful calm does reign supreme.

My airplane streaks in graceful flight,
scaling clouds at awesome height,
glimmering through the starry ocean,
far from all the earth's commotion.
