Michael is helping to plan a family reunion. A park charges $200 plus a charge of $2 per person to rent out its pavilion for the day. This situation can be represented by the equation y = 2x + 200 where y is the total cost and x is the number of people attending the reunion. Another local park charges the same deposit, but $3 per person. What should be changed in the equation y = 2x + 200 to represent this situation?

Respuesta :

The thing that should be changed is the number next to x. Since it is no longer $2 per person, but is not $3 per person you would make it a 3 next to the x to have a final equation that looks like this:
y=3x+200
y = 3x + 200

From the information you gave us, the equations are the same except for the charge per person. If this wasn't helpful, please notify me and I'll try to explain it better.
