12 3/4 + 15 1/4

12 + 15 = 27
3/4 + 1/4 = 4/4 or the same as 1
27+1=28

So the answer is Julie used 28 gallons of Water.

15 1/4 can also = 15.25
12+15 = 27
.75 + .25 = 1
27+1 = 28
