Which has a greater velocity? A ball rolling down a 3.4m hill in 8.5s or a fish swimming upstream, covering 6.2m in 0.6 minutes?  (velocity = change in distance / change in time)

3.4/8.5 = 0.4
6.2/36 = 0.172

Time taken by ball = 8.5 seconds

Time taken by fish = 0.6 minute = 0.6 × 60 = 3.6 seconds

Greater velocity

Computation:

Velocity = change in distance / change in time

Velocity of ball = 3.4 / 8.5

Velocity of ball = 0.4 meter per second

Velocity of fish = 6.2 / 3.6

Velocity of ball = 1.72 meter per second
