Describe the interactions between RNA polymerase and promoter sites that lead to the initiation of transcription. Predict what would happen if the promoter sites were damaged.
In order for RNA polymerase to complete transcription and create mRNA the promoter is needed. The promoter is what tells RNA polymerase where to start transcription. If the promoter is damaged in any way, transcription most likely will not occur.
